On December 10, 2024, VISIONS OF SUSTAINABILITY showed Damon Gameau’s film 2040 – JOIN THE REGENERATION as part of the climate protection series of the inter- and transdisciplinary ICN project.
The third film screening of the VISIONS OF SUSTAINABILITY project was another success – in the packed auditorium of the Harmonie Kino, around 100 spectators followed Gameau’s journey on the search for solutions to the climate crisis. As with previous events, visitors were able to share their impressions and attitudes both before and after the film screening via an online survey or a paper questionnaire. This time the focus was on assessing hope, optimism and willingness to act in the face of the solutions presented to the challenges of climate change. The results are currently being scientifically evaluated.
In the subsequent discussion, Pia Laborge and Dr. Volker Stelzer from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology shared their perspectives with the audience. As co-creators of the ICN project KBR Innovation Communities in Freiburg, they spoke about the importance of local innovations and collaborative solutions. Practical examples and the relevance of networks such as AllWeDo, which support people and organizations on their way to transformative action, were particularly highlighted.
At the end of the event, further information and resources were provided, including information about the work in the Innovation Communities project and the next opportunities to get actively involved: The workshop „2040 – nachhaltige Zukunftsvisionen für Freiburg“ will take place (in German) under the leadership of Pia Laborgne and Volker Stelzer on January 23, 2025 at the Volkshochschule Freiburg. Participation is free, but registration via the VHS is required.
Our film series continues on December 10th with the Dutch film Duty of Care – The Climate Trials by Nic Balthazar, which follows the lawyer Roger Cox, who is suing powerful states and corporations for climate protection. Hannah Münstermann from CLIMATE CLINIC will be a guest at VISIONEN DER SUSTAINABILITY for the subsequent discussion. Registration through the adult education center is also required for this film; admission is free.
