The second film series of VISIONS OF SUSTAINABILITY is dedicated to the topic of resources and resource protection in the areas of agriculture, urban areas and the energy sector. The chosen films are not only concerned with doing business in a more sustainable and ecologically friendly way, but also ask how we can develop community-supported business models.
Our three selected documentaries from Germany, France and Sweden highlight different ways to use our resources more sustainably.
The opening film, UNSER BODEN, UNSER ERBE by Marc Uhlig, vividly shows why the soil on which our food grows, as a valuable resource, deserves our appreciation and more sustainable management.
The French film LA BELLE VILLE/GREEN CITY LIFE by François Marques and Manon Turina visits innovative projects that try to bring nature back into the hearts of cities to make them more livable and resilient.
The Swedish film OUTGROW THE SYSTEM by Cecilia Paulsson and Anders Nilsson asks which innovative economic systems can enable the transition to a more sustainable and fair society.
In keeping with these topics, we offer excursions to the Lindbrunnenhof and Freiburg’s city trees with our cooperation partner Volkshochschule Freiburg, as well as a workshop with the EWS Schönau, which aims to show how citizens’ initiatives and cooperatives can steer the energy supply in a more sustainable and fairer direction. VISIONS OF SUSTAINABILITY is an inter- and transdisciplinary research project funded by the Innovation Sustainability Campus (ICN), located at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Non-university cooperation partners include Harmonie Kino, the Volkshochschule Freiburg and Greenmotions. The Freiburg environmental mayor Christine Buchheit has take on the patronage of the project.
