Our third film series, with its accompanying excursions and workshops, is dedicated to the topic of WELL-BEING. The two selected documentaries from the Netherlands and Germany will be shown again in October and December at the Harmonie Kino in Freiburg. They focus on the many positive effects of cycling on people and their cities, as well as on animal welfare and animal ethics in the treatment of (farm) animals.

The opening film, Why We Cycle by Arne Gielen and Gertjan Hulster, highlights some obvious, but even more hidden, effects of cycling on people, society, and the organization of cities. This film will be shown on October 28, 2025, at the Harmonie Kino in Freiburg.

The German film Butenland by Marc Pierschel is dedicated to the topic of animal welfare and tells the story of two people who focus on the needs of animals, far removed from any economic interests. This film will be shown on December 2, 2025, at the Harmonie Kino in Freiburg.

In keeping with these themes, we are offering a cycling policy excursion in Freiburg in cooperation with our partners Volkshochschule Freiburg and VCD Freiburg, as well as an excursion with a guided tour and “Adventglühen” at the Gnadenhöfle in Müllheim-Dattingen — as always, these events are offered in German. At the end of the resource series, we will once again offer a concluding lecture on our current research findings, which will also mark the end of our VISIONS OF SUSTAINABILITY project.

The online registration system for all film screenings and further events in Freiburg via the Volkshochschule Freiburg will open in August. We look forward to seeing you at the first film screening of the new series on October 28
